The pledge for a new public service

Three lines, one commitment, zero corruption.

To be considered for an endorsement by Us, a candidate must first sign the pledge. Its three short sentences ensure that an endorsed candidate will work for the people they represent, not for themselves or their donors.

The pledge removes incentives for corruption and other self-serving behavior. We will never fix our politics by waiting for once-in-a-generation candidates of heroic virtue. Instead, we need to make virtue the easy choice.

  1. I will not run for re-election.

No workdays spent dialing-for-dollars instead of legislating. No nightly fundraisers with lobbyists. No worrying what the donors think. Public service, not politics.

  2. I will not run for any other office while serving.

No voting with an eye on the next race. No moonlighting as a candidate. A laser focus on the current job and the voters who put you there.

  3. I will never run again after 10 years total in elected office.

No career politicians. No blocking the next generation. No job-for-life. Returning to public service is encouraged, but not without experience living in the world you have made.

I will not run for re-election.

I will not run for any other office while serving.

I will never run again after 10 years total in elected office.

Every candidate Us supports has signed it.the pledge
